Preparing for Your ADHD Assessment: Tips and Advice
Hey everyone, I’ve got my first ADHD assessment coming up next month, and I’m honestly feeling a bit overwhelmed. I’ve read that the process involves a lot of questions about childhood, past behaviors, and daily struggles, but I’m not sure how much detail I need to go into. Do they expect me to remember things from when I was five? Also, should I bring anything with me—like notes, reports, or even someone who knows me well? Any advice from those who’ve been through it would be greatly appreciated.

I second the idea of bringing someone along if possible—it made a big difference for me. I also recommend being honest and open during the assessment, even if it feels uncomfortable. Sometimes we downplay our struggles without realizing it, but this is the time to be completely real about how ADHD affects you. Good luck, Alex! You got this.
