To validate the signature on e-Aadhar card, you need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer. Adobe Reader is a free software that allows you to view, print, and sign PDF documents. You can download it from .


Once you have Adobe Reader installed, follow these steps to validate the signature on e-Aadhar card:


  • Download your e-Aadhar from the UIDAI website by entering your Aadhar number or enrolment ID and OTP received on your registered mobile number.



  • Open the PDF file in Adobe Reader and right-click on the 'validity unknown' icon on the top right corner of the document.



  • Select 'Validate Signature' from the menu and click on 'Signature Properties'.



  • Click on 'Show Certificate' and then on 'Trust' tab.



  • Click on 'Add to Trusted Certificates' and then on 'OK'.



  • Check all the boxes under 'Use this certificate as a trusted root' and click on 'OK'.



  • Click on 'Validate Signature' again and you should see a green tick mark indicating that the signature is valid.



To check if the signature is valid or not, you can also hover your mouse over the signature field and see the status message. If the signature is valid, it will say 'Signed by UIDAI. Validity: Valid'. If the signature is invalid, it will say 'Signed by UIDAI. Validity: Invalid'. If the signature is unknown, it will say 'Signed by UIDAI. Validity: Unknown'.

Apart from validating the signature on e-Aadhar card, you can also check your Aadhar card validity online using the UIDAI website. There are three ways to check your Aadhar card validity online:

How to Verify Aadhar Number on UIDAI Website




To verify your Aadhar number on UIDAI website, follow these steps:


  • Visit and enter your 12-digit Aadhar number and security code.



  • Click on 'Verify' and you will see a confirmation message saying 'Your Aadhaar Number 1234-XXXX-XXXX Exists!' along with your demographic details such as name, gender, age band, state, etc.



  • If your Aadhar number does not exist or is invalid, you will see an error message saying 'Your Aadhaar Number 1234-XXXX-XXXX does not exist. Please check your Aadhaar Number.'



How to Check Aadhar Status on UIDAI Website




To check your Aadhar status on UIDAI website, follow these steps:


  • Visit and enter your 14-digit enrolment ID (EID) and date/time of enrolment that are printed on your enrolment slip.



  • Enter the security code and click on 'Check Status'.



  • You will see your Aadhar status as one of the following:



  • 'Your Aadhaar is Generated. Download eAadhaar': This means that your Aadhar card has been generated and you can download it online.



  • 'Your Aadhaar generation is in process. Please check again after a few days': This means that your Aadhar card is still being processed and you need to wait for some time.



  • 'Your request has been processed. Please check again after a few days': This means that your request for update or correction has been processed and you need to wait for some time.



  • 'Your request is in process. Please check again after a few days': This means that your request for update or correction is still being processed and you need to wait for some time.



  • 'This enrolment has been rejected as duplicate. Please DO NOT RE_ENROL': This means that your enrolment has been rejected because you have already enrolled for Aadhar card before.



  • 'This enrolment is under manual check and Aadhaar generation may be delayed. Please check again after a few days': This means that your enrolment requires manual verification and Aadhar generation may take longer than usual.



How to Check Aadhar PVC Card Status on UIDAI Website




Aadhar PVC card is a new form of Aadhar card that is more durable, convenient, and secure than the paper-based e-Aadhar card. It has a hologram, QR code, micro text, ghost image, issue date, print date, etc. to prevent tampering and fraud. You can order your Aadhar PVC card online by paying a nominal fee of Rs. 50/- (inclusive of GST & speed post charges).


To check your Aadhar PVC card status on UIDAI website, follow these steps:


  • Visit and enter your 12-digit Aadhar number or 16-digit virtual ID or 28-digit enrolment ID.



  • Enter the security code and click on 'Send OTP' or 'Enter TOTP' if you have the mAadhaar app.



  • Enter the OTP or TOTP received on your registered mobile number and click on 'Submit'.



  • You will see your Aadhar PVC card status as one of the following:



  • 'AWB Number Assigned': This means that your Aadhar PVC card has been dispatched by UIDAI and you can track it using the AWB number provided.



  • 'Payment Received': This means that your payment for Aadhar PVC card has been received by UIDAI and your order is being processed.
