Anyone here ever painted a cinder block wall?
So I’ve got this painted cinder block wall in my backyard that’s been bugging me for years. It’s in good shape structurally, but the plain gray look just makes the whole space feel unfinished. I finally decided to paint it, thinking it would be a quick weekend project, but it’s been more of a learning curve than I expected.
Between figuring out the right primer for cinder block, dealing with all the little pores in the surface, and choosing a paint that can handle the weather, it’s been a bit of a project. I’ve read that some people use masonry paint while others just go with exterior latex, but opinions seem split. I want it to last without peeling or looking patchy in a year.
If anyone has tips or lessons learned from painting a cinder block wall, I’d really appreciate it. Photos of your projects would be awesome too. For context, I’m in a sunny area, so it’s exposed to a lot of heat during the day.
